The Green Gap is the green field space around Crewe and Nantwich. It was protected from development by the former Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council. The new Cheshire East Council is reviewing its plans for the development of the Borough. The current draft of the plan DOES NOT MENTION the Green Gap. This means that the protection from development will be lost.

Willaston is a village with its own separate identity between Crewe and Nantwich. We are surrounded by the Green Gap. If this is lost, then Crewe and Nantwich will eventually merge.

The Willaston Parish Plan published in 2009 stated that safeguarding the Green Gap was important or very important to 93% of residents.

The Willaston Green Gap Action Team was formed in November 2010 to campaign to Save the Green Gap.

We handed a petition of 1221 signatures into Cheshire East Council in December 2010 asking for the retention of the Green Gap to be included in the Cheshire East Core Strategy development document.
